deaf card that

After many years of college you would think I could figure all this dumb paperwork out and know what I am doin....not yet LOL I am laughing because it appears my professors over the years have not bothered to inform me of very important information...I have re-taken classes before like in english so I could catch up. I am no good at english and because of my language issues the professor had given me an incomplete to allow me another semester to catch up. They did not bother to tell me that I didnt need to ADD the class again but that my grade of incomplete held a seat for me...so now I had to request an unofficial transcript trying to figure out why my GPA is so screwed up...well, when I re-took class I added the class again...so basically I failed one and got a grade in one...soooooo I am working on a paper to turn in with my appeal to have all the extra classes dropped and the W or F removed from my transcript which will look so much better for my GPA and for future employers too :) what a mess!!!!! So the lady from admissions says "just tell them your deaf and didnt understand the instructions" ..........where did I put that.........BAM.....deaf card :) I told her I was never given the proper instructions to understand...but obvious this is classic communication issues..Got two pumpkins today from a friend...they are small but I am excited to dig my hands in and get gooooooey! Im glad my daughter doesnt mind doin all the traditions with me...even if she is all grown up...she just laughs at me but has to admit she has the COOOOOOLEST mom :) we have to wait until the weekend to do them....I hate waiting ;)

“Faith in something greater than ourselves enables us to do what we have said we'll do, to press forward when we are tired or hurt or afraid, to keep going when the challenge seems overwhelming and the course is entirely uncertain.”

This is a video made from 1400 pictures taken as I drew and smudged..This video shows my conflict as a child trying to fit into a deaf world and a hearing world but being forced to choose between one or the other instead of embracing both cultures. Being told I have a great voice for a deaf person, or that I am not hearing enough. I am me and I am OK .

This next video I did is my video that was included in an art show for first thursday down town boise at 8th street market place. This video was inspired by Bruce Nauman's "The True Artist Helps the World by Revealing Mystic Truths" , Nam June Paik's "Electronic Superhighway", Nito Acconci's "Theme song" , the inspiring words of I. King Jordan " The only thing deaf cant do is hear" and Mike Smith's "I am me, I am OK". Growing up with a disability I never really knew who I was or where I fit in. The term "broken" was often used to describe those I knew who were not "normal" , including myself. It sadly is still true today that differences are viewed as "broken". I am sharing small pieces of my life with the veiwer without words. I want the viewers to see that I am me, and I am OK.

HA! You thought you wanted roses for VDAY...but maybe you want to re-think the whole rose thing and go with carnations instead

So....You think you want to give roses to your significant other...I found this information very informative and thought it would be a good idea to pass along. I am not a supporter of VDAY.(but that blog will have to wait) OK so this made me laugh. (and say UGH!!!!) If you want to give someone flowers you cant just give them flowers...you must give them the right color Flowers to tell them how you feel about them...guess communicating by speaking with your words or signing isn't enough...you must buy the right color of roses...here is the list of what colors mean:

Here I am on my very quick lunch break...and yes drinking dew. It is right now counter-acting the dayquil which although it says "doesn't cause drowsiness" I am fighting it. So along with my chicken soup I am drinking a dew in hopes of waking up in the next 20 minutes to get to class on time...Plus since mountain dew has orange juice I am also getting a small dose of vitamin C...RIGHT? And Corn Syrup must be made from corn...so I am even getting in a vegetable...twice actually...it does say at the bottom of the ingredients vegetable oil. WOW who knew it was so healthy?!

This picture is art...yes, art!

That bloody cereal...

This was a cereal that was in many homes back in the 70's. Yes it was called "Grins&Smiles&Giggles&Laughs"

A few of you remember this breakfast cereal...and if your house was anything like my house we had 6 kids fighting over one silly little toy.

There were no smiles at breakfast time at my house. Usually spills and tears and bloody noses instead. That one toy no matter how stupid cheap and worthless it was was worth losing tv time, or outside time.

I woke up early just to beat my brothers and sisters to the box...and after some shoving and pushing I would grin from ear to ear as I sat at the window watching everyone else playing outside.

It didnt even matter if it was just a magnet that didnt even have enough strength to stay on the fridge...that toy was free and it was mine!

I imagine moms all over the US complained enough -tired of all the breakfast tears- and someone finally pulled the cereal from shelves...or maybe it was all the sugar it had in it. ;0) but oh the memories...
